Antioxidant supplements maybe harmful?

via Medical Breakthroughs

A new report contradicts the claims of previous studies that antioxidant supplements, like beta-carotene, vitamin A, and vitamin E, prevent diseases. Researchers analyzed previous research, which included 68 randomized trials and 232,606 participants

I used to tell my patients to opt for better, easy and fun way to prevent diseases. A simple jog 30 minutes per day is cheap and sufficient for good healthy lifestyle. Instead, most of them prefer a shortcut by taking tons of vitamins everyday to `promote` good health. Good eating habit is not in their dictionary. Now their effort is totally a waste.

  1. I find these studies interesting, partly because I am taking large doses of vitamin E. However, I question the where the money came from to conduct these large studies. It is my opinion, that we are being setup to believe that there are no benefits to vitamins and supplements so the FDA can take them off the market and force people to buy expensive pharaceutical drugs. At the very least it is interesting. Thanks for the comment on Blog Catalog btw. :)
