By now everybody should have known Microsoft Windows Vista includes a new `killer` feature called Aero. This will enable u to view 3d windows. This feature is enabled only in systems with graphic cards supporting DirectX 9.0 and must have at least 128 MB graphics card RAM. Wow, what a high requirement for an eye candy! Almost all Vista fan boy will regard this feature as a holy grail of Vista without realizing it was an old feature found in Mac and Linux. I’ve been using Beryl in Ubuntu since it was known as Compiz-quinn . Nothing much I can say except Beryl although in beta stage will put Aero to shame. The full wow factor in Beryl is indeed much better. You don’t need super duper hardware to run Beryl. Instead, by utilizing Aiglx my intel integrated graphic run 3d graphic smoothly with Beryl. What happen when Beryl reach maturity level and more polished? If u don’t agree with me, just have a look at this video comparing Aero and Beryl. Video after the jump.

@bernard : i can run ALL Beryl features on my Dell 700M . its only intel integrated graphic. why dont u download ubuntu and install beryl using synaptic. its soooo fucking ezy
I’ve been using linux (RedHat, Ubuntu, YellowDog, Debian and probably a few others) for probably 10 years now and Windoze since 3.11. I’m also a Mac owner/user since OS/X (obviously because it’s built on unix). I’m absolutely dying to get my hands on an Intel Mac though the boss (translation::wife) won’t let me yet.
Anyway, I won’t go to Vista because it’s such a hardware hog that I’d have upgrade a system which runs perfectly fine right now. I’ve used Beryl before and it’s really nice though I don’t run it on a regular basis. I kind of like my desktop old school. Every once in a while I like to drop down into full screen Bash and go without GUI for an hour or two. Yeah, I know.. I’m crazy.
