Ultrasound is the method of choice to determine sex of a baby prenatally. There are other tests to such as Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) and Amniocentesis but these tests are for diagnostic purposes. What happen is after 6 weeks of gestation there are fetal DNA circulating in maternal blood. A PCR method will be used to analyze maternal blood for Y chromosome.
