Scientist at Sheffield University has created an artificial blood from plastic. The concept is similar to real hemoglobin where iron atom is needed to carry oxygen. Unlike real blood which need special storage and temperature to carry, this new plastic blood doesn’t need those requirements. When I was in medical School, one of my lecturers mentioned about a new artificial blood under trial. It was + – 6 years back and I haven’t seen any real synthetic blood. I’ll keep my fingers crossed till I see real clinical application from this plastic blood. It would be fun if this artificial blood is not red in color
