New Energy Source?

This is another interesting development of alternative source of energy beside this.

Scientists have known for decades that they can turn heat into sound using simple devices called acoustic heat engines. But this week a team of University of Utah researchers plan to show they’ve succeeded in miniaturising and optimising the devices, which then turn the sound into usable electricity.

If true, the advance could open the door to super-efficient power plants, cars, and computers, as well as a new generation of solar cells.

  1. I recently watched something on Mad Labs (Discovery Channel), about a boffin who used particles derived from olive oil which can store and disperse energy very efficiently.

Apparently, when this technology matures, buildings can literally self-power when you coat it with this stuff.

Basically, it functions by storing solar power in itself and disperses it in a controllable manner.

On an unrelated note, I personally think that alternative energy sources are not really immature. It’s just the traditional power supply corporations being fearful at the potential loss of revenues if these renewable energies eventually becomes mainstream.

Call it a “conspiracy mindset” if you want… but every day you see more and more renewable energy technology being announce; but where are the contributions from existing power players?

  2. Hope we all can have an alternative fuel and energy sources. Not rely on fossil fuel and electricity. Then we can save a lot of money and also save the environment heheh.
