Safari is in the game now

UPDATE (13/6/07) : An 0day exploit has been found on  this release.

Don’t cry to your nanny if you like Safari but have a little pocket problem to buy uber expensive Apple Macbook. Steven Paul Jobs hears your whining. I do wonder what took so long for them to release Safari on Windows Platform. A simple logic to expand a user base is to release any software in windows platform.

Benchmark says Safari is the fastest web browser on windows, rendering pages up to 2X faster than IE7 and up to 1.6 compared to Firefox. My short experience with Safari on Windows Xp seems to disprove this statement. But this is my only short experience and my biasity may interfere with the actual facts. What 1`m so sure is the time to load Safari is significantly slower compared to Firefox and even IE7.

The Good

Painless installation.

Simple,clean and cool Apple interface.

It rendered this site correctly! Dumb IE 6 has a little problem with kucau.net.

The bad

No Google Toolbar :( . All my useful good firefox plugins are forever gone.

Pricing and availability

7.97 MB bandwidth. No other hidden fees.

Requirement.

Windows XP or Windows Vista, a minimum of 256 MB of memory and a system with at least a 500 MHz Intel Pentium processor.

Although Safari on windows would be a pure genius, my divorce with Firefox won’t likely to happen in the near future.

  2. Dude, I’ve download it and tested it. The interface looks cool but I’m getting used to it though :).
You are right, there are a lot of things that can’t be added in Safari.

  3. Cool man.. I like the feature where you can drag a tab out to open it in a separate window… :D

  4. I’ve installed it and crashed in the first minute. It looks nice but for now it’s just not reliable.
