Virus fighting cancer
A specifically re engineered Herpes virus to destroy cancer cell shows a promising result in a preliminary study.
NV1020 is a modified version of the herpes simplex virus, which causes cold sores. Its genetic make-up has been altered that so it only replicates in cancer cells, killing them in the process, and leaves ordinary cells alone. The German biotech company had already announced positive results from an interim analysis of a 13-patient Phase I/II study of NV1020 in September, but efficacy data from a case study was unveiled for the first time at the Swiss meeting.
Currently the re engineered Herpes virus has shown to be effective for colorectal cancers and liver cancers. Well, if this method later confirmed to be effective I’m sure this maybe a Holy Grail to fight cancer in near future.
I don’t know what to comment on this subject but when we talk about a cure for cancer most often it comes a wee bit too late. Doc, share with us something about the “prevention from Cancer”.
